Dinyar Marzban appointed chair of BC branch of ACTL

Dinyar Marzban has been appointed Chair of the provincial branch of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is one of only two family lawyers in B.C. who have been admitted to the College.

JML Construction Law Update

On May 10, 2011, Jenkins Marzban Logan LLP hosted its’ biennial Construction Law Update at the Hilton Hotel in Burnaby.  The event was well attended, with approximately 300 clients and friends of the firm joining JML’s construction lawyers for a hot breakfast followed by a discussion of recent construction law developments.

Bob Jenkins records hole in one at Predator Ridge

In addition to being one of Canada’s leading construction lawyers, Bob Jenkins, Q.C. can hit a pretty decent golf ball.  To prove it, Bob went out to the Predator Ridge golf course in Vernon for the grand opening of its new course and promptly recorded the course’s very first hole in one.  Click here to view a video of Bob being interviewed.  While it was a first for the course, it was actually Bob’s third hole in one.  “All in a day’s work” Bob was heard to exclaim.

CCDC to release new Construction Management contract forms

In November 2010, the Canadian Construction Documents Committee will introduce three new contract forms:

The two different construction management forms of agreement reflect the development of the construction management concept in the industry, distinguishing between the traditional “Owner’s Agent” approach (the CCDC 5A form) and the increasingly common “Construction Manager at Risk” approach (the CCDC 5B form).  Jenkins Marzban Logan LLP has prepared brief summaries to provide a quick introduction to the significant changes and new concepts, available here (CCDC 5A and 5B) and here (CCDC 17)
