Meredith is an Australian trained lawyer, with 17 years experience in international engineering and construction projects. Meredith arrived in Vancouver in 2002 to become General Counsel for an international process engineering and technology contractor. In 2007 Meredith established Goto Sargent with engineer Gordon Goto and through that firm has been providing process improvement, claims and project commercial management consulting services to the energy and process engineering sectors both in BC and internationally.
Meredith joined the Construction team at JML in May this year and brings broad hands on industry experience to her role as legal advisor.
Education and Bar Admission
Meredith holds degrees in Science and Law from Australian universities and was called to the bar in Victoria, Australia in 1989. She recently completed the requirements to be called to the bar in British Columbia.

- Extensive engineering and construction claims development, negotiations and strategic management, and dispute resolution through negotiation, arbitration and litigation.
- Commercial risk management of engineering and construction projects in the chemical process, mining and energy sectors.
- Development of contracting strategy, advising on, drafting and negotiating engineering and construction contracts in Canada and jurisdictions including: North America, South America, China, South East Asia, India, Australia and Eastern Europe.
- Direct experience in global procurement of materials, equipment and services for engineering and construction projects.
- Lecturer in law for engineers at Australian universities, and development and delivery of training in risk management and commercial management to engineers, project managers and commercial managers in BC.
Personal
Meredith is an active member of the board of CANZBA (Canada Australia New Zealand Business Association), enjoys participating in the activities of her three daughters, and has discovered the joy of scuba diving and more recently (since joining JML) golf.
