Emma Vallance has practiced family law exclusively since 2016. Emma advises clients on a breadth of issues arising from separation, including division of property, child and spousal support, and parenting-related matters. Emma also routinely assists with the preparation of cohabitation and pre-nuptial agreements for clients who are looking to achieve a degree of certainty in the event of a relationship breakdown. Emma is particularly interested in cases involving complex financial matters, including income determination, corporate and trust structures and the associated tax issues.
Emma is a skilled and compassionate advocate who tailors her approach and strategy to suit the unique circumstances of each case. She strives to achieve practical, out-of-court resolutions for her clients through negotiated or mediated settlements. When that is not possible, Emma draws on her litigation experience in the BC Supreme Court and Provincial Court.
Emma’s approachable demeanor helps clients to feel at ease as they navigate through what can often be an overwhelming process. She provides her clients with explanations to complex issues that are easy to understand and follow.
Outside of the office, Emma enjoys travel, skiing, quality time with family and friends, and forest walks with her dog, Chewie. She also performs in The Lawyer Show, a fundraising event for Vancouver’s Touchstone Theatre and Carousel Theatre for Young People.
