Profile

An experienced trial and litigation lawyer, Jannelle Mackoff focuses her practice at JML on construction law disputes, builders liens, and insurance litigation. Jannelle also maintains a general commercial and civil litigation practice.

In her construction practice, Jannelle works with a wide variety of clients, including owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers. She also represents clients in insurance matters, helping clients challenge denials of coverage under insurance policies.

Jannelle seeks to facilitate the efficient resolution of her clients’ disputes. Jannelle has successfully helped her clients obtain settlements through informal negotiations and structured mediations. In litigation, Jannelle has represented clients in chambers, arbitrations, and trials. As a results-driven advocate, Jannelle draws on her extensive trial experience when required in order to achieve the best possible results for her clients. She has appeared before tribunals and the British Columbia Supreme Court.

Prior to joining JML in 2020, Jannelle was a trial lawyer at a boutique personal injury law firm for three years, where she gained invaluable court experience. Jannelle has also completed the American Association for Justice’s Depositions Course and Ultimate Trial Advocacy Course, which is held at Harvard Law School.

From 2018 to 2020, Janelle was an executive board member of the Vancouver Bar Association. In 2024, Jannelle became an executive member of the CBABC Construction Law Section.

During university, Jannelle was a member of the UBC varsity women’s rowing team. Jannelle had a successful rowing career and served as captain of the rowing team while attending law school. Beyond her law practice, Jannelle is an avid tennis player and enjoys training for and competing in tennis tournaments.
