Roman Nurpeissov

Profile

Roman Nurpeissov is an experienced lawyer admitted to law practice in three countries. He advises and represents clients at various project stages, including contract drafting, tendering, negotiations, arbitration and litigation. He frequently represents owners, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and lienholders.

Prior to joining JML, Roman articled at a boutique Vancouver law firm. Before moving to Canada, Roman worked overseas and has a wealth of experience as an in-house counsel (general counsel of a mining company; chief corporate counsel of a large international oil company) and a senior associate at a leading U.S. law firm. Roman was also a summer clerk for two U.S. federal Judges: the Honourable Eugene E. Siler, Jr. (Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals), and the Honourable Thomas A. Wiseman, Jr. (District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee).

  • Co-counsel for a contractor in a large BC infrastructure project in a dispute with its subcontractor
  • Co-counsel for developer and contractor in an arbitration dispute with a subcontractor
  • Co-counsel for policyholder in an insurance and coverage matter
  • Co-counsel for a subcontractor advising it on a release and indemnity agreement with its contractor
  • Co-counsel for a lienholder under the Builders Lien Act
